Relay For LifeRelay For Life

RELAY FOR LIFE:

Thanks to all who participated and donated to our Relay for Life team. We set a goal of $1,500 and raised $1,637 for the fight against cancer. The evening was full of excitement and activities even with the damp and colder than normal weather. Walking participants for the evening were Rob Simmons, Ed Tuchler & family, John Neel, David Zier, Ron Graham, Sara Carr, Mary Zvonar, Wendy & John Swanson, Dan Carper and Cat White.

We are proud to report that of the over 3500 participants two members of the team were the last walkers on the track at 6:00am!

See you next year!

BLue Ridge Assisted Living

The New River Valley Home Builders Association, a professional trade organization dedicated to being the respected voice of the residential and commercial building industry, recently completed a wheelchair ramp project for Blue Ridge Independent Living. The project was also sponsored by Home Depot with a $500 gift card donation. Volunteers pictured are David Zier of G&H Appliance, Rick Hyatt of Atmosphere Builders, and Joseph Rogers; others included Tim Lawrence of Blue Ridge Home Improvement, Jason Boyle of Green Valley Builders, and Jason Ewing of Ewing Building and Remodeling.

CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES

Supporting Communities in the New River Valley

Not only does participating in community service make us feel good, but it can also reap public relations benefits for the association. Here are some upcoming opportunities . . .

Check out the "On Your Own" Opportunities here.

Howls and Meows

NRVHBA supports the 1st Annual Howls and Meows

Thank you all for your great support of the first annual Howls and Meows. I am proud to announce that through the sale of raffle tickets and individual votes for favorite houses at Brew Do, over $1,400 was raised for the Humane Society of Montgomery County!

Raffle winners were drawn last week, and they are as follows:

#1 "The Birdhouse"- Anne Marie Hutchens
#2 "The Barn"- Alisa Hannifan
#3 "Princess Pad"- Martha Moore
#4 "GNI Canine Chalet"- Sarah Young
#5 "The Inn"- Teresa Hughes
#6 "Strung Out"- Mary Jane Huber
#7 "Country Club"- Tom Deutsch
#8 "Over the Rainbow"- Larry Hincker
#9 "Princess Kitty Wonderland"- Monica Roman

There are going to be some happy pets in those households!

The “Country Club” house was chosen as “Best of Show” through the collection of $1 votes at Blacksburg Brew Do. Over $200 was raised from Brew Do attendees voting for their favorite, and pet supplies and food were collected at the festival as well.

Thanks to everyone for your support of this fundraiser. We couldn’t have done it without the creative builders and those of you that sold lots of raffle tickets! We welcome feedback to make the fundraiser an even bigger success next year!
