A Look Back at Build Her Dreams: The Power of Collaboration
The Build Her Dreams Bed Build showed what happens when our community comes together around a shared purpose.
More than 40 beds were built and donated to children in need thanks to over 125 volunteers, sponsors, and partners who stepped up to help.

Girls from local organizations gained hands on experience with tools while learning from women in the construction industry who shared their stories and encouraged them to see themselves in these careers.
Local groups including the Blacksburg High School Lacrosse Team, DanceTech, VA Techniques, Girl Scout troops, and more joined forces with the NRVHBA Women in Building Committee and Sleep in Heavenly Peace – NRV to make the day possible. The event blended career awareness and community service in a way that made a visible difference and created new connections among girls, women in the trades, and industry partners.
The event came together with the help of many partners including the National Housing Endowment, the Home Builders Association of Virginia, and countless local businesses, volunteers, and supporters.
You can relive the energy and impact of the day in our Build Her Dreams video on YouTube. It spotlights the teamwork, the excitement of trying tools for the first time, and the pride in building something that directly supports another child in the New River Valley.
Building on this momentum, the NRVHBA Women in Building Committee is developing a new experience for girls in our region. Inspired by The House That She Built initiative, we are planning a House That She Built Day Camp for Girl Scouts that will continue to grow career awareness while giving girls another chance to collaborate and create.
