Constructing Careers Grants

The NRVHBA Starter Grant provides up to $500 in funding for classroom consumables or small-scale resources that are not typically provided by the school district. Starter Grants are ideal for launching new ideas or supplementing lesson plans with materials that spark student interest in construction careers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the school year beginning January 2026. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks of submission, with recipients receiving funding soon after.

The NRVHBA Builder Grant funds larger-scale projects that deliver hands-on learning and significant student impact, advancing construction trades skills and career awareness of the industry. Projects are expected to provide practical experiences and actively engage NRVHBA members as speakers or mentors. Recipients will be required to submit a final report detailing outcomes and student feedback. Applications are accepted once per year, with a structured review and funding timeline. Applications open January 15^th each year and are due no later than March 1^st. Recipients of funding will be notified no later than May 1^st and funding will be received prior to the start of the next school year.

There is no set maximum funding amount for Builder Grants; funding decisions will be made each year based on available budget and the scope of submitted proposals. Applicants are encouraged to seek matching support from their school or other partners to maximize project impact, but matching funds are not required.

The Sustaining Grant is a one-time $3,000 grant designed to establish self-supporting programs or labs. This grant provides funding for innovative classroom initiatives that generate ongoing revenue, ensuring long-lasting workforce development opportunities for students in construction trades education. Applicants must submit a business plan outlining a revenue model, projected outcomes, and plans for long-term growth. Projects are expected to deliver practical workforce development experiences and actively involve NRVHBA members as mentors or speakers
